Blood, Sweat, and yes, Tears too.
Started Friday and seems to still be going.
So here goes for the weekend recap of the MAT games.
Friday I was incredibly excited and thought that I might have a chance at doing okay through the weekend. With 5 workouts, there had to be something that I would have some kind of chance at.
I already covered event 1. I far exceeded my expectations on the rower and the dumbbell snatches. The rest was about what I expected except for how I placed over all. Oh well.
Saturday I showed up wanting to kick some ass. Yes, I knew the first event of the day was going to be difficult but I could at least hope that I might surprise myself.
Event 2: “Barbie”
15 Thrusters @ 45# - These felt like they went quite well!
80 Single jump ropes - I think I ended up breaking these up into two sets, 50 and 30 or so.
15 Overhead Squats @ 45# - These were TERRIBLE. I really need to work on these. Definitely a goal I have for getting through the rest of the year, hello open gym. I was no rep’d plenty on this. These took forever.
40 box jumps - fresh legs theses would have been better. I ended up stepping these out
15 Deadlifts @ 115# - woot! slammed my thumb between the plates when I was adding them on to the bar. That felt nice. These felt heavier than they should have and I only made it through 6 of these.
20 Burpees - fortunately/unfortunately I didn’t get to do these. Ran out of time with 11 minutes.
So, yep, not my strong suit.
However, I’m making several goals coming out of this competition. The first of which is to work on my Overhead Squats. I emailed my old trainer the other day but I got no response. So I guess it’s time to find someone else for some of that personal work.
